WOMENS CLASS
WOMENS CLASS
Sunday April 13th
This is 2 classes in one day. Held at JCSA shooting club in Grants Pass Oregon
PISTOL 1
9am-1pm
This class is aimed at beginners and those with some experience, this class emphasizes safety fundamentals. Sunday morning Pistol 1 class progresses from a crawl to slow-walking pace, covering the four key gun safety rules, range etiquette, and proper safety equipment use. Starting with dummy guns, we'll build understanding of firearms and surroundings, then progress to inert pistols, covering stance, grip, and body position. We'll move to handling real pistols with dummy ammo, then live ammo for shooting, all from a table (no holstering).
The slow walk phase introduces basic shooting fundamentals, focusing on stance, grip, and vision, progressing as a group at a comfortable pace. The walk phase builds good training habits, reinforces safety rules, and introduces beginner-level pistol drills for personal practice, starting with unloaded guns from the table.
Things to bring to class:
A modern handgun chambered in a standard caliber. 9mm 40. or 45acp
A holster for this pistol. All guns used in this class should have a holster. If you do not have a holster we will continue working off the table. If you intend to work from a fanny pack for carry, bring it and we can work it into your training.
Spare magazines for the handgun you are using
Ammunition to feed the pistol you are using 200-300 rounds is a safe bet.
Ear protection
Eye protection (sunglasses suffice)
Layers to be comfortable outside
Water
Snacks
A lunch
Proper footwear to be on a possibly muddy range
A ball cap
Sharpie
Notepad if you would like to take notes.
PISTOL 1.5
1pm-5pm
Designed for beginners and those with some experience, this class advances from Pistol 1, focusing on holster draws with an emphasis on concealed carry. We’ll cover safe holstering, drawing, and reholstering, starting with inert (dry) guns to practice cues. Dry fire practice will build familiarity and repetitions, followed by fundamental shooting drills to sharpen pistol skills and safety, enhancing hand-eye coordination for ongoing learning.
Expect discussion time to address questions and learn comfortably.
